N. 1
MSC Grandiosa, launched in October 2019, raises the bar in environmental performance and is fitted with state-of-the-art emissions control technologies:
MSC Cruises has started the construction of MSC Europa, the first of five liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered cruise ships that will come into service from 2022 onwards:
MSC Cruises is also investing in fuel cell technology, which will reduce carbon emissions by about 30% compared with the conventional dual fuel engine fueled by LNG.
N. 4
To help reduce emissions in ports, MSC Cruises’ classes of ships since 2017 are designed for shore-to-ship power supply, a means to connect cruise ships at berth to the local power grid. This allows the ship to switch off nearly all engine functions while in port, lowering emissions.
