a voyage of discovery in the western mediterranean

Here at MSC Cruises our roots are in the Mediterranean, so there’s no one better to show you what this incredible area has to offer.
This summer, as part of our extensive selection of itineraries in the Western Mediterranean, MSC Grandiosa will take in Genoa, La Spezia (Cinque Terre), Civitavecchia for Rome, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Cannes on her 7-night cruise. Read on to find out some of the highlights!
Palma de Mallorca
The port city of Palma lies on the south coast of the beautiful Balearic island of Mallorca. Palma is celebrated for its medieval streets, beautiful architecture and ancient fortified walls. The Cathedral of Santa Maria features designs by Gaudí and one of the world’s largest stained-glass window.
Spanish traditions are kept alive at Balearic Coliseum in Plaza de Toros, a historical arena that still hosts bullfights.
Mallorca also has incredible beaches and crystal-clear water so it’s the perfect place to take a break from sightseeing and lounge on the beach with a cocktail or two!
Barcelona
One of the busiest cruise ports in the Mediterranean, the seaside city of Barcelona is known for its iconic architecture, colourful culture, and world-class drinking and dining.
Explore Gaudí’s surreal Sagrada Família, the famous boulevard of the Ramblas, the medieval Barri Gótic, and the Museu Picasso. But there’s even more to discover in this sprawling Spanish city: from hidden tapas bars and fabulous food markets to Europe’s biggest football stadium, Camp Nou. Whether you’re a history buff, sports enthusiast or food tourist, Barcelona has something for you.
MSC Cruises has over so many different excursions available you’ll never be lost for things to do in this lively city.
Cannes
With its immaculate seafront, glamorous yachts and designer boutiques, Cannes is in many ways the definitive Riviera resort.
Promenade de la Croisette is certainly the main sight to see during your time in port with its exclusive hotels, the Martinez and Carlton to name two of them, on one side and their private beaches on the other. It’s also possible to catch some rays without paying for private beach beds, as there are also areas of free beach right on of the promenade.
The old town, known as Le Suquet after the hill on which it stands, gives an incredible view of the of Cannes’ bay. At the very top of the hill you’ll find the remains of the fortified priory lived in by Cannes’ eleventh-century monks, and the beautiful twelfth-century Chapelle Ste-Anne.
We are continuously assessing developments in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and will adapt the measures as needed to be able to guarantee the highest level of health and safety onboard. Cruising with MSC Cruises means cruising with the confidence that we have your best interests at heart.
