 HAL07 - HISTORIC HALIFAX PUB TOUR - 2.5 hrs - 2011 - 2012
For centuries mariners have celebrated their safe arrival in port with a visit to their favorite pub … or two… or three. Become part of this age-old tradition by participating in a time honored pub tour. At the first pub we’ll sample local ale and everyone will be inducted into the exclusive Order of the Sou’Wester - the only way to be welcomed to Nova Scotia! Our noble fisherman, Angus Sou’Wester, leads the ceremony... Each and every guest must don an official Sou’Wester hat, and turn back the brow in fine fisherman style. Then, as Angus anoints everyone with our famous Atlantic salt water, it’s time to take a swig of your spirits in one hand and place the other hand on your heart, face the ocean, and pound it back, finishing up with a true Maritime cheer. This simple, but age-old tradition is a favorite, and certain to be an icebreaker. After the ceremony, it’s time for the real fun to begin! Led by our KILTED Guides and a BAGPIPER, we’ll lead you through the streets of Halifax, taking in libations at some of the unique, Olde English Style pubs. We’ll finish off by the waterfront, at Historic Properties; with a Ceilidh... by dancing a jig or two to make the afternoon of rollicking good fun complete. Throughout the tour, we’ll have a roving musician or two along the way to lead a little sing song whether it be the fiddle, guitar, mandolin, accordion or even the washboard... and of course, the bagpipes! By the time you reach the last pub, the true Maritime kitchen party will be under way!
